In Honor of James E. Wheeler

James E. Wheeler (1941 - 2022) dedicated his life to preserving Black film, theater, and media, serving as a

testament to the power of cultural preservation. In his lifetime, he acquired over 40,000 artifacts that today we are fighting to protect. Despite his invaluable contributions,  as a historian, collector and visionary, his story is vastly untold.

Ruth Ann Wheeler (1942 - 1991) was a lifelong educator, with unparalled patience and a deep passion for teaching. Her calm spirit and generous heart made anyone she came in contact with feel special. She was also instrumental in enabling our father to build his vast collection by contributing half of her income to his non-profit, Concept East II.
